June was all about…. Chickens! ……..and frogs.
It was a looooong wait for the children (and the staff!) but finally throughout June we had 5 chicks hatch in an incubator in our nursery. Some of the chicks hatched during the daytime so the children were able to watch it happening, which was a really wonderful experience. We also had a visit from Caryn and Ollie who brought a grown up bantam hen into nursery for the children to meet – they were captivated! Caryn showed them how a chicken hatches and the children got to break an egg shell, just like a hatching chicken would. Thank you so much to Caryn and Ollie for a very special experience.
We also found some frogs in our garden, which were kindly offered a new, more suitable home elsewhere!
