Monkey Puzzle Tatsfield is prominently situated on the busy Church Hill, on the fringe of the popular ‘village’ of Tatsfield, between Biggin Hill, Oxted and Westerham.
The nursery provides facilities for children aged from 3 months through to preschool age and is registered as GOOD with Ofsted.
We have dedicated rooms for our various age ranges and each room reflects the seven areas of learning, as prescribed in the Early Years Foundation Stage. All of our facilities are designed to be accessible to every child. Alongside our dedicated rooms for Babies, Toddlers and Preschool children, Monkey Puzzle Tatsfield also offers several amazing outdoor spaces and gardens for the children to explore, including our own Forest School, run by our own fully qualified Forest School instructor.

🐦🔎Toddlers Bird Hunt🐦🔎
To tie in with their Emotions Week, toddlers were encouraged to get out into nature and have a calm moment of bird watching. The children loved spotting the birds and marking them off on their checklists. They learned how to identify the different birds and their sounds.

📚 Inset Day 📚
We had our staff training today, and what better way to start the day than with ‘outdoor provision’ training. The staff engaged in the importance of outdoor play and all the wonderful things they can implement and then went to set up an activity in the garden based on the children within their rooms and their interests , as well as completing an audit on the outdoor provision and looking at what resources we need or want, to improve our outdoor space even more.
We then looked at the importance of visuals throughout the nursery and how these benefit all children; the staff learned this by completing an origami task where some had visuals and some didn’t which enabled them to understood how beneficial visuals are regardless of age and ability!
We brain stormed what makes quality interactions with the children and how we implement this within our nursery and the importance of communication, even if the children have not learned to talk yet or are non-verbal; every opportunity to interact is a learning experience for them.
After lunch, the staff focused on what they were proud of within their rooms so far this year and have developed an achievement folder to showcase this so they can share with everyone, we can’t wait to see what gets added to these throughout the year 😊
Then lastly, the staff had time to sort out their rooms and look at the resources and layout and ensure they are age and stage approapriate for the children and set up ready for them when they return to the nursery tomorrow.

🐦In pre school the children are investigating a real birds nest, they are looking at the different materials birds may collect to create there nests over our spring season. Today we are making a bird nest hanger and filling it with different materials the birds can use. They use bendy twig cuttings to bend and tie into our hanging cage and the children help to tie and hold the twigs in position. We will be hanging our finished hanger into a tree in our garden area and hopefully will observe some birds collecting the materials.🐦

👨🔬👩🔬🧪🌡Science Week in Preschool👨🔬👩🔬🧪🌡
This week in Preschool the children used recycled materials to create a 'volcano', they practiced their scissor skills doing this and worked together to stick it all down. They then watched all together as it 'erupted', speaking lots about how they erupt, lava, ash etc
The children have also been exploring plants and learning about each part of flowers/plants.
