The vast majority of our staff are either NNEB (National Nursery Examination Board) or equivalent, or participating in the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Early Years and Childcare. We have a very high qualified staff ratio which far exceeds that of OFSTED requirements. All of our staff are trained in First Aid.
Sharene Menteath – Owner and Director
Sharene has spent her entire working career in the Education Industry. Sharene has focused primarily on Higher Education, but diversifying into Early Childhood Development in the last few years where she was part-owner and Director of a Day Nursery in South Africa.
Sharene gained invaluable experience in her time spent in various roles from Marketing, HR, Operations, Educational Development and New Business, in Management and Senior Management positions to Directorships. Sharene is passionate about her new nursery and firmly believes that education is an industry that is always changing, developing and evolving. It is because of this, her passion has never died. “Always learning” is something she keeps close to her heart.
Jane – Nursery Manager
I hold a Montessori Level 4 Diploma in Education, a Bachelor of Science and a Level 6 Early Years Professional Status. I have 18 years experience as a Montessori teacher, Deputy Nursery Manager and Nursery Manager. I changed career into early years 20 years ago after the birth of my daughter. From that moment child development has been a passion and has stayed with me ever since. I am also the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Nursery.
Becky – Deputy Manager
My name is Becky and I am the Deputy Manager here at Monkey Puzzle. I have a Diploma in Childcare and Education as well as an NVQ level 3 in management. I have always enjoyed watching children grow and develop new skills and take great pride in seeing their achievements. In my spare time, I enjoy making fun memories with my friends and family!
Jo – Nursery Practitioner
My name is Jo and I have a CACHE level 3 Diploma for the children’s and young people’s workforce. I have 7 years’ experience working with children under 5. I like to help children grow and develop new skills to help them achieve their goals. I have 2 children of my own and I have done voluntary work in South Africa working as a teaching assistant for reception and year 1 children.
Becky – Nursery Practitioner
My name is Becky and I am a nursery practitioner here at Monkey Puzzle. I have a level 3 in childcare and have worked for children for the past 4 years. I enjoy helping others and watching the children learn, grow and develop as individuals. In my spare time I like spending time with my family and friends.
Jodie – Nursery Assistant
My name is Jodie and I am a nursery assistant working towards my level 3 in childcare. I started working in childcare 3 years ago after joining an agency and then joined Monkey Puzzle. I thoroughly enjoy working with the under 2’s, watching the young children grow and learn new skills. In my spare time, I enjoy going out and doing fun things and making memories with my friends and boyfriend.
Bel – Nursery Assistant
My name is Bel. I hold a Diploma in Child Psychology. I have been working with children and children with special needs for the last 9 years. She enjoys seeing the children grow and learn something new everyday.
Rosy – Bank Staff
My name is Rosy, I hold an Edexcel Level 3 Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare and a CACHE Level 2 Diploma in Childcare and Education. I have 6 years’ experience working with children from age 3 up to 13 years old, both in nursery and primary school environments. Out of many different career choices I have made, I enjoy this one the most, working with and caring for children feels natural and puts a smile on my face!
Tracey – Nursery Practitioner
My name is Tracey and I have been working in childcare for over 20 years and have an NVQ level 3. I first took a job in childcare so I could work around raising my three young children and I loved it so much I decided to become qualified and pursue my career. Childcare can be hard work and challenging at times, but it is such a rewarding job, supporting children to achieve and develop. In my spare time I love to do gardening, growing vegetables and flowers. I enjoy spending time with my family; my 3 grown up children and 3 grandchildren.
Kelly – Nursery Practitioner
My name is Kelly and I have been working at Monkey Puzzle as a nursery practitioner for since April 2016. I have 2 children aged 20 and 14. I have an NVQ level 3 and have been working in childcare for over 25 years, working as a nanny and in a previous nursery. The best thing about working with children is that you can teach them new things, watch them learn, see them grow into confident individuals and help them to progress to the next stage. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, shopping, going on dog walks and I love going to the beach!
Shelly – Nursery Practitioner
My name is Shelly, I hold an NVQ level 3 in Childcare. I have been a 1-1 with a child with down syndrome. I got into childcare because of my 2 children but as they got older, I realised I like being in childcare because I find it rewarding and enjoy seeing the children grow, as well as the fact that no two days are ever the same. Out of work I enjoy cooking and I’ve recently taken up golf, both my husband and eldest son play so I thought if you can’t beat them join them.
Jenni – Room Leader – currently on maternity leave
My name is Jenni, I hold a Cache Level 3 Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare. I have over 7 years’ experience in childcare, mostly specialising in pre-school age (2-5 years). I enjoy being a positive influence on young minds; my children are the future and I believes that by helping them on their way at such a young age, this contributes to making the world a happier place. I am the designated SENCO for the nursery.
Emma – Nursery Assistant
My name is Emma and I am a nursery assistant, currently studying towards my level 2 in childcare and I have a degree in drama. Starting a career in childcare has always been an interest of mine, because I love the idea of helping to develop young children’s minds and allow them to express themselves and explore who they are. My acting background supports me to do this as I use it as a technique to help build their confidence.
Cherise – Nursery Practitioner
My name is Cherise, I have been working at Monkey Puzzle since 2016. I have a Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Level 4 in supporting Teaching and Learning. I am currently studying towards my Teaching degree at university. I was inspired by my nan who used to work with children and I enjoyed helping her when I was younger. In my spare time I love to spend time with my family and trying new experiences.
Ellie – Nursery Chef
My name is Ellie, I was born in Riga, Latvia and came to the UK in 2015. I have been studying and working as a chef since 2009, realised I love this profession, got a Diploma in Culinary in 2010 and been a chef ever since. I’ve worked in different places such as fine dining, Dinner in the Dark, hotels, restaurants and Health Studio where I managed and prepared meals for a weight loss program. I love working in a nursery because nothing sounds better than “yaaay!” from the children when I bring their lunch into the room. In my free time I enjoy gardening and just spending time with loved ones.
